Slow Cooker Supper 3rd June 2009

From the archives of long forgotten page in time..............

My sister G decided to use her closest family as guinea pigs before she served the dish to b/f. She started early with her "slow cooker" simmering a red marina sauce for about 8 hrs. My daughter K and I played a game of UNO with my dad. He caught on pretty quickly. We didn't have a 10K purse on the table so I think he took loss pretty well. My parents just came back from Tenn. apparently my dad got no sleep he was busy at the poker tables. I am pretty sure he had his food delivered even though he'll never admit that. Seemed the parents had a good time even took a trip to Graceland. Mom has some advice go on Sunday & early, not in summer to hot. Elvis had was quite a collection of cars & motocycles. Can't wait to see the pictures.

My sister E and her kids Nas (5) and Liv (1) were there too! G is the youngest, E is the middle and I Alli am the oldest. K decided while cutting the bread to slice her thumb. I am always telling her to be careful. She likes helping in the kitchen.

Dinner Dishes - salad with Romain lettuce, baked zucchini, marina sauce over noodles and bread. The garlic was old so we didn't have roasted garlic. Publix has really let us down in the produce department lately. I almost forgot the brownies.

The recipe below I managed to finagle out of G only after I was home. Just kidding she is always giving tips, sharing ideas & forever clipping coupons.

2 - 6oz tomato paste

1 big can stewed tomato

2 cans diced w/ Italian herb seasoning

1 lb hamburger meat - garlic salt - oregano - Italian seasoning - pinch sugar - onion powder

Now with any family you can imagine what happens next.

E & K want hunks of hamburger and lots of it no more big tomatoes

N ate his veggies and no sauce

Dad ate is entire plate plus 2nds

Alli was happy although wished for a noodles without ridges & smidgen more of tomato paste

Mom was glad to come home from trip & dinner planned & prepared
