Dark Lover a Black Dagger Brother Novel

I found this book in Hawaii at Borders searching for a good read by the pool. I love series romance. Once I started reading Dark Lover I couldn't put it down. Elizabeth (Beth) Randall raised in foster care is unaware she has vampire blood from her Dad Darius. She is a reporter for Caldwell Courier Journal living in New York. After being attacked in an alley she gets a call from the local Caldwell PD about a car bomb. She has no clue she is about to cover the story of her own father's death. Her transition into a vampire is very near and she will need the help of a vampire. Along comes Wrath the King of Vampires who watches over her and takes her through this difficult time into a vampire. I think she feels the need for love but hasn't found Mr. Right.

Darius is a Black Dagger Brother born a princeps and worth millions. He owns several homes and has an extensive art collection. Beth finds a miniature portrait of her mother in his study. She must have wondered how much she meant to him. Following Elizabeth from birth with photographs, he also collected every article she wrote. He refused to turn down in the mornings until Fritz brought the paper in for him to read. Somehow he must find the courage to ask Wrath to bring Elizabeth through her transition. He wants her to survive and Wrath's blood is very pure.

Fritz a doggen maintains Darius's estate & assets. Providing comfort for Darius & all the guests of the home. The brothers who would commit murder to keep Fritz making the spinach crepes.

Wrath is a black leather wearing, dagger throwing no holds bar one hell of an attitude vampire. Born a King of his race he has renounced his title for centuries he only seeks vengeance for his parents murder. He feeds from Marissa never loving her as his shellan or taking her to bed. Seeking out Elizabeth at her apartment he terrifies her and has to erase her memory.

The Black Dagger Brotherhood is like the top elite group within the vamps community they protect their race and fight lessors. I am not sure if Ms. Ward created the Lessors for her books or if they have been written about before in history or by other authors. I will have to read her message boards for more info. Lessors smell like baby power and answer to the Omega kinda like their god like person. Lessors are dead and keep their hearts in a jar. They have a military atmosphere and are very strict in order. Here is the glossary listed for:

the Omega (pr. n.) Malevolent, mystical figure who has targeted the vampires for extinction our of resentment directed toward the Scribe Virgin. Exists in a nontemporal realm and has extensive powers, though not the power of creation

I will place glossary terms through out the posts straight from the book. I firmly believe Ms. J.R. Ward will forgive me as I am quoting her glossary terms and not copying the book or stealing mearly to help familiarize persons to J. R. Ward's glossary terms. I absolutely love this book and her use of slang and glossary terms. Where did she get those from? Sounds like more research for me! I want everyone who loves Paranormal Romance to purchase a copy at their independent bookstore today. I am ready for the next one.
Happy Reading - Alli
